Authentic Homemade Guacamole

Authentic Homemade Guacamole

This classic guacamole is creamy, zesty, and made with simple fresh ingredients for unbeatable flavour—perfect as a dip, spread, or taco topping.

It can be made to be either creamy or chunky, depending on individual choice, personally, I preferred it to be creamy.

This classic Mexican appetiser is made by adding lime juice, salt, onion, chili peppers, fresh cilantro or parsley to mashed ripe avocados. It is an ‘all-rounder’ dish regularly served on tacos, with tortilla chips, or as a condiment for burgers and sandwiches and usually serve at office end-of-year parties, conferences, and other ceremonies etc.

Ingredients

  • 3 large hass avocados Chunky or Creamy – Is a personal choice. If you choose creamy, then ensure that you select ripe avocados in order to achieve a rich and a creamy Guacamole consistency.
  • 1 small red onion, finely diced This gives a bit of crunchy effect.
  • 2 small tomatoes Adding tomatoes brings out the colour, add freshness and sweetness. However, this is a personal choice, if you prefer a smoother dip, you can leave it out.
  • 2 small limes, juiced The lime juicy helps to preserve the avocado and prevents it from changing colour.
  • 2 small jalapeno (chilli), and minced. Choose either green or red. For those who don't like chilli, you can deseed it before mincing.
  • 2 tsp fresh cilantro (or parsley), finely chopped This add herbal element to the Guacamole.
  • 1 clove garlic, minced A little bit should be enough.
  • ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt (or to taste) Or you can use ¼ teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper, to taste

Method

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
  2. Mash the avocados with a fork until mostly smooth, leaving some texture if desired.
  3. Add the diced red onion, lime juice, jalapeño, cilantro, and garlic to the bowl.
  4. Season with salt, cumin (if using), and black pepper.
  5. Gently stir until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning or lime juice as needed. Serve immediately.
